Yied Engineer
The Yield Engineer will lead STC’s manufacturing performance initiative and drive improvements to meet industry-competitive yield standards and scrap reduction goals.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, ceramic, or mechanical engineering, or related technical field
  • Process engineering and design
  • Demonstrated ability to manage strategic projects and/or corporate initiatives requiring involvement of cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated use of structured problem-solving skills and decision-making methods and techniques (e.g. DOE, Six Sigma, PDCA) to assist in fact-based root cause and corrective action assessment
  • Cross-functional team leadership experience
  • Strong organizational, analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently

 
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5yrs+ working in a manufacturing engineering organization or role
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical analyses and reporting
  • Capability to work with large data sets to develop and verify model agreement with reality
  • Lean manufacturing fundamentals

 

Responsibilities: 
  • Develop factory-wide metrics to measure, analyze and report yield performance and scrap levels
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to understand the integration of key process areas and identify yield issues driven by the interaction of unit operations
  • Conduct analyses to identify high impact scrap events in discrete process areas and establish plans for corrective actions/countermeasures to be implemented and monitored
  • Utilize STC ERP systems/databases (Visual, Unipoint) to capture and communicate yield metrics
  • Use statistical analysis, product history analysis and other data-mining methods to identify opportunities to improve yield and prevent future reoccurrences
  • Drive regular scrap team meetings and update progress on a weekly basis
  • Capture and report on process improvements affecting yields, capacity, cycle times and cost
  • Communicate the impact and projections of large scrap events to planning and manufacturing manager 
  • Active team participant in lean manufacturing actions which drive enhancement of product manufacturability and effectiveness
  • Contribute to the identification, justification and implementation of capital equipment and engineering projects to support manufacturing and yield improvement objectives
  • Interface with Quality Assurance and Business Development teams to provide guidance and clarity on customer impacts and issues
  • Other duties as required
