The Senior Buyer is responsible for procurement of all materials, services, and supplies with a focus on leveraging spend, enabling procurement tools, and developing key supplier relationships. Contacts suppliers, secures bids, and reviews bids before execution of purchase orders. Expedites orders to meet production needs. Purchases complex, large impact materials, services, equipment, and supplies, and utilizes continuous improvement principles that achieve the best possible cost, delivery, quality, safety, and technologies for out internal and external stakeholders. Locates and evaluates suppliers, negotiates, and administrates contracts. Participates in establishing strategies for assurance of supply and for significant cost reductions.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or other relevant discipline required
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification and demonstrated success implementing process improvement projects is a plus
  • CPSM, CSCP, or CPM certification is a plus
  • 3-5 years’ experience managing direct and indirect materials/services across various commodities
  • Strong background in manufacturing, source selection, and AS9100 and ISO 9100
  • Ability to work independently and experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Proven track record of developing and managing suppliers
  • Strong, clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to track and analyze information.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is required.
Responsibilities: 
  • Partner with Supply Chain Manager and leadership to execute procurement strategies
  • Proactively manages Maintenance, Repair, and Operating supplies (MRO) and establishes strategic agreements in order to achieve cost savings targets
  • Partners cross-functionally with quality, engineering, maintenance, production, and finance
  • Evaluate and actively manage supplier performance (e.g., on-time delivery, quality, costs, etc.)
  • Ensure the buying function is properly performance, and that timely information is available to all internal stakeholders.
  • Participates in the disposition of rejected materials with engineering and quality and ensures timely resolution to support production schedules, responsible for Return to Vendor (RTV) process and contacts suppliers to obtain Return Material Authorization (RMA) for goods dispositioned as RTV.
  • Lead and improve purchased inventory and component management best practices including purchasing methods (PO, Blanket, etc) and advanced replenishment methods (MRP, stocking programs, vendor managed inventory, consignment, and re-order points)
  • Collaborate with internal customers to define and document item or service product specifications and requirements, and then communicate to suppliers
  • Prepares purchase orders using Visual ERP for the purchase of goods and services needed to support day-to-day operations for STC
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations through streamlining of work processes, improving turnaround time, and working cooperatively with other departments to complete the purchasing requisition from order through receipt
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding expediting, late deliveries, pricing discrepancies, and quality issues
  • Perform annual Supplier Evaluations, send out surveys and prepare vendor scorecards to comply with our Quality Management System.
