Production Planner/Scheduler

Production Planner/Scheduler
The production planner/scheduler analyzes customer demand from material requirements planning systems and coordinates the production schedule to insure timely delivery of commercial ceramic products.

  • College degree or comparable work experience.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong, clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is required.
  • Knowledge in production scheduling and planning is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the concepts of 5S and lean manufacturing desirable.
  • Analyze customer demand against current supply chain to determine the production plan.     
  • Analyze production capacity to ensure that the capacity is substantial to fill the demand.       
  • Schedule, tracks, and reports production departments and provides feedback to area leaders as to throughput achieved versus planned.
  • Oversees a staff of 2 or more production employees by preparing work schedules, assigning specific duties and communicating to staff about interest and special needs of STC.
  • Oversees direct employee performance & development and works closely with HR to recognize employee excellence and addressing performance concerns. 
  • Communicate with customer services and sales to accommodate customer expedites.      
  • Review forecasts with customer service to help modify production plan as needed.
  • Make recommendations to the production manager regarding the need to shift production personnel.
  • Supports 5S implementation and execution throughout the production floor.        
  • Work hands-on with the production staff to make improvements to quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Develop production schedules that make the most efficient use of time and resources.
  • Keep track of production numbers and arrives at several back up plans quickly to accommodate unexpected customer demands or production issues.
  • Communicate production plans to all levels of the organization.
  • Must conduct him or herself in a professional manner at all times, and exude a professional appearance.
