Continuous Improvement Coordinator

The Continuous Improvement Coordinator is based in St. Albans, VT reporting to the Director of Operations. The position goals are to improve customer satisfaction, process excellence functions, and accountable for teaching, leading, and executing process excellence initiatives. The Coordinator will serve as a change agent for developing and encouraging a culture that is driven by innovation, accountability, and transparency. The transformation engagements will include fostering cultural transformations at STC through mentoring of executive leadership, organizational training, and hands-on project support. The targeted performance improvement activities will be supported by applying continuous improvement methodologies to achieve specific business results in operations, transactional processes, supply chain, acquisition integration and other strategic initiatives for the organization. The Continuous Improvement Coordinator will ensure the project goals align with the business objectives of the OPS department and have measurable benefits.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years progressive Continuous Improvement Project Management/Leadership
  • Strong coaching skills with a minimum of 5+ years of effectively leading CI initiatives with a significant change impact across organizational boundaries
  • People management skills, including leadership, conflict resolution, assertiveness, negotiation and influence management
  • Strong, clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is required.

Responsibilities: 
  • Gain a complete understanding of the STC business model.
  • Act as a change agent committed to accelerating process improvements with the aim of supporting the business in achieving its objectives. Promote awareness, understanding and acceptance of continuous improvement methodology. Create a CI road map.
  • Educate, coach, and mentor employees at all levels in the organization to establish an engaged CI culture.
  • Train local teams through the development and implementation of CI tools and best practice sharing across STC, including learning material, standard CI toolkit, meaningful date driven metrics and measurement tools that ensure process improvement initiatives are aligned with overall company’s strategy ensuring alignment and incorporation, and identified process improvement solutions.
  • Apply wide range of process improvement tools to assist in identifying and eliminating waste and support growth including: Value Stream Mapping, Visual Management, Kaizen / Gemba Planning and Facilitation, Flow Concepts, Pull Systems/Kanban, 5S /Workplace Organization, Level Load Scheduling, Value Analysis/Value Engineering, and Standard Work, Problem Solving (ie. DMAIC)
  • Drive cross-functional CI teams to Best-in-Class performance in People, Quality, Material Flow, Information Flow, and Cost.
  • Assist with the aligning improvement plans to the organization through participation in idea generation, selection, scoping, aligning of metrics and project execution.
  • Create an environment where all employees have increased opportunities to contribute to the success of the business and the security of their future through Continuous Improvement efforts.
  • Work independently to complete projects as assigned, by both mentoring as well as driving individual projects to successful execution and appropriate use of lean tools/methodologies.
  • Take initiative to apply CI/Lean expertise innovatively in support of the organizational vision that addresses critical business issues and focuses on developing long-term solutions.
  • Recommend strategic initiatives that accelerate operational excellence improvements, through participation in strategic meetings as the Continuous Improvement advisor, while gathering potential initiative insight for future CI engagement. 
  • Serve as knowledge and subject matter expert and contact for organization.
  • Other duties as required.
